To the unwashed, National Hockey League awards are a collection of hardware with funny names. To hockey fans, the trophies are just de serts for players who battled through 82 games.

Individual recognition is great, but every player has one goal every season: see his name etched on the rings of the Stanley Cup.

The Ted Lindsay Award, which is presented annually to the "most outstanding player" in the NHL as voted by members of the National Hockey League Players' A sociation, also will be awarded on June 24.
