Devon Travis knee injury leaves Blue Jay
CLEVELAND Devon Travis hit 11 home runs this year, but the best thing the Blue Jays second baseman did for Toronto was to set the Adrian Phillips Jerseys table, as he hit .300/.332/.454 while providing a strong glove up the middle.
The Blue Jays will have to go the rest of the playoffs without Travis, as he was taken off the ALCS roster on Saturday before Game 2 because of a knee injury, replaced by Justin Smoak.

Smoak, a husky first baseman, adds no positional flexibility, but he is a switch-hitting power threat off the Toronto bench. In 341 plate appearances this season, Smoak hit .217/.314/.391 with 14 home runs. His power is mostly from the left side of the plate, and has not been in evidence much of anywhere lately. Smoak last homered on August 26 off Minnesotas Pat Dean, and went 1-for-18 in September before New England Patriots Jackets striking out in his only plate appearance of the postseason.
