Evander Kanes infected hand is gross PHO

Evander Kane probably shouldn't fight we've been Brandon Thompson Jersey over this before.

Based on the latest developments in the hand injury he picked up during a scrap, he *really* shouldn't fight. The Winnipeg Jets winger posted this photo to his Instagram. (It's private, hence the Twitter photo).

Yikes. Kane is out until after the Olympic break because KeiVarae Russell Jersey of an infected cut on his knuckle. He originally injured himself on Jan. 7, then returned for four games and totaled a goal and three a sists before the infection flared up.

Hes going to be taken care of this afternoon, but he will not play prior to the Olympic break, coach Paul Maurice said on Tuesday. I dont know what more that it is theyre Vincent Rey Jersey going to do. You do it, and then you just pray that it gets taken care of, because theres nothing you can do about it.

Its a real William Jackson Jersey unfortunate setback for him and for our team. I liked the way he was coming and going, and were going to mi s him."

Fighting to keep hold of playoff spot St

SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) The Dallas Stars mi sed an opportunity to tighten their grip on their first playoff spot in six years.

Sean Bergenheim scored with 4:31 left to break a third-period tie, and the Florida Panthers snapped a five-game losing streak in a 3-2 win over the Stars on Sunday.

Bergenheim put the Panthers ahead for good when he redirected Colby Robak's drive from the left circle.

"I just tried to put my stick down on the ice and he (Robak) found it. It was a really nice play by him," Bergenheim said.

The Stars Clayton Fejedelem Jersey still hold a one-point lead over the Phoenix Coyotes for the second Western Conference wild-card spot. They mi sed a chance to extend their points lead against a team that has been struggling.

"We stopped skating. You can't do that, you have to play a full 60 minutes in these games," Stars forward Jamie Benn said. "We knew it wasn't going to be easy, they're not going to give us these games. We have to put this one behind us; it was obviously a terrible outcome. We don't want to remember this one."

Scottie Upshall and Brandon Pirri also scored for Florida, and. Roberto Dre Kirkpatrick Jersey Luongo made 35 saves and beat Dallas for the first time in five starts.

"Myself and also the team got better as the game went on. We had a really strong second half of the game," Luongo said. "We're competitors. Anytime we step on the ice, it doesn't matter what the circumstances are, you want to have that winning mind-set and try to win."

Tyler Seguin and Benn had goals for the Stars, and Kari Lehtonen stopped 21 shots.

Florida erased a 2-0 deficit on goals by Upshall and Pirri in the second period.

The Panthers made it 2-1 when Erik Gudbranson's shot was tipped by a Dallas player, hit Upshall and bounced into the net at 8:20 of the second.

"These are good games, the league tunes into these games and they're big," Upshall said. "We have an opportunity here to play for something and those are fun games to play in."

Florida tied when Pirri scored with 57 seconds left in the period. Jimmy Hayes slid a pa s to Pirri in the slot for a one-timed shot high into net.

"Obviously, they're playing for their lives," Panthers coach Peter Horachek said. "Getting that second one and tying it up was a great momentum boost for us."

Dallas took the lead 45 seconds into the game when Benn poked the puck past a defender and then wristed a shot past C.J. Uzomah Jersey Luongo for his 33rd goal.

Benn, who scored 40 seconds into Saturday night's 5-2 win at Tampa Bay, has three goals in two games.

Dallas made it 2-0 just 39 seconds into the middle period when Seguin scored Geno Atkins Jersey his 36th of the season during a power play.

Seguin's shot from the left circle went off the stick of a Florida defender and into the net, giving Seguin his fourth goal in four games.

The Stars also struggled against Tampa Bay on Saturday, when they nearly blew a three-goal lead before pulling away in the third.

"Tough points to lose, it wasn't a good game for us," Seguin said. "No excuses even though it was back to back. We expect better."

NOTES: Pirri has a four-game point streak and has 12 points in 15 games. ... Benn has 21 points in 19 games. ... Dallas G Tim Thomas, traded by Florida to the Stars on March 5, didn't play. Thomas has been in just two of the past 10 games. ... Dallas forward Ray Whitney mi sed his second consecutive game because of a lower-body injury.

Claude Giroux Flyers will make the playo

Claude Giroux thinks his Philadelphia Flyers will make the playoffs. Before that can happen, he has to make at least one website obsolete.

As Anton Khudobin Jersey the spiritual succe sor to the site dedicated to Scott Gomez's futility streak, we present: didgirouxscoreyet.com ( via r/hockey ).

The answer, as of Tuesday afternoon, remains not yes.

As for the Flyers, they started Tuesday with the worst record in the Metropolitan Division, Eastern Conference and National Hockey League, at 1-7-0. Giroux, Philadelphia's captain, still believes in his team.

When you have the record we have right now, youre a little frustrated and you try to figure out whats going on, but everybody came to the rink and we know theres a lot of hockey left to play here," he said. "Were not far at all. How many points are we off, six? To Tuukka Rask Jersey think that with the start we had, were that close. Weve never thought that were not going to make the playoffs.

Well take it here game-by-game, and we will make the playoffs.

Hope is a good thingmaybe the Brad Marchand Jersey best of things. That said, as Elliotte Friedman outlined last week and Sean Leahy pointed out at Puck Daddy on Tuesday , the Flyers need to get moving. In the seven seasons after the 2004-05 lockout, three out of 32 teams that were four points out of a playoff spot on Nov. 1 managed to finish in their conference's top eight by the end of the regular season. Philadelphia is currently six points behind the New York Islanders, who'd make the postseason as third-place team in the Metro Division.

A major plus for the Flyers, though, is that the Metro Division has been Zdeno Chara Jersey terrible thus far; a two-point team would be eight points out of position in the Atlantic, nine points out in the Central and 10 points out in the Pacific. If goalie Steve Mason can maintain some semblance of his fast start and the offensive production improves from "historically bad," maybe they'll have a shot.

NHL Mixed Bag Blues Kings get needed win

Each Monday during the NHL season, Rob Mixer takes a look at the biggest storylines from the hockey week that was. The Blues needed to win, and they did

A few days ago, Mike Yeo sounded like a guy who may have coached his final game with the St. Louis Blues.

But GM Doug Armstrong, who orchestrated the plan to bring Yeo on as a sociate coach and head-coach-in-waiting to Ken Hitchcock -- stuck with his bench bo s at least through the weekend, and the Blues were able to get their biggest win of the season on Saturday night. Two days after the Columbus Blue Jackets dropped seven goals on them in an embarra sing home Patrice Bergeron Jersey -ice lo s, the Blues were the team scoring seven times at Enterprise Center in a 7-3 win over the Blackhawks.

NHL Rumor Roundup: Bruins need a center, Penguins a defenseman to replace injured Justin Schultz

Vladimir Tarasenko, who was quite vocal in support of Yeo after Thursdays lo s to Columbus, was equally so after Saturdays win.

"This is really emotional for us," Tarasenko said, via NHL.com. "Everyone understands how important this game was. The most important thing now is don't think it's over. It's not the end of the season, Zdeno Chara Jersey so now we have stuff to build on.

Listen: the Blues arent even close to being out of the woods yet but a win at least temporarily releases some pre sure. But theyre 3-4-3 and their nine points are six fewer than third-place Winnipeg (though the Jets have played two more games). And the Blues lost No. 1 goaltender Jake Allen to an injury during Saturdays game, which certainly does not make for an easy road ahead.

On the bright side, Robby Fabbri, Carl Gunnar son and Nikita Soshnikov all rejoined the team on Monday following conditioning stints in the minors. The Kings got one, too

Yes, they got Dustin Brown back for Sundays game against the New York Rangers, but the Kings season is in danger of being over before it really even gets started. That made Sundays dramatic win over the Rangers even more timely.

MORE: John Tortorella frustrated by chummy NHL: "There's no hate any more, and I mi s that"

They had two wins in their first 10 games entering Sunday and their -18 goal differential was second-worst in the NHL, ahead of only the Detroit Red Wings (its now -17 after the 4-3 win). Theyd lost six in a row before Sunday and collapsed in the third period against Minnesota on Thursday, and now, theyll be without Jonathan Quick (again) for an undisclosed period of time. Hes already mi sed five games this season due to injury, though this lower body injury isnt believed to be related to his previous ailment.

Either way, for a Kings team that needs any kind of spark to get out of this rut, losing Quick hurts even though he hasnt played well: Quick sports a 4.55 GAA and .845 save percentage this season, and at times, its been ugly. Los Angeles must dig out this hole for the time being with a goaltending tandem of Jack Campbell (who played well in Sundays game) and Peter Budaj. Deep breaths, Toronto

Right away, it didnt look good.

Early in the second period of the Maple Leafs win Saturday night, Winnipeg Jets defenseman Jacob Trouba delivered a clean, Jake DeBrusk Jersey hard shoulder-to-shoulder hit on Torontos Auston Matthews and you could see immediately Matthews was in distre s. After brief consultation with team trainers, Matthews went down the runway to the dre sing room and didnt return.

On Monday, the Leafs announced Matthews will mi s at least four weeks of action because of the injury. Keep in mind, Matthews has had shoulder injuries before, and last year he mi sed 20 games with a variety of health i sues. The team went 11-7-2 without Matthews in the lineup a year ago.

Regardle s, not having their top offensive weapon is a big blow for the Leafs.

MORE: NHL Phil Esposito Jersey announces betting partnership with MGM Resorts

Matthews was the NHLs sixth-leading scorer entering Sundays slate of games with 10 goals and 16 points in 11 games, though he hadnt scored a goal since Oct. 13. In fact, hed gone without a point in three games prior to his injury.

But, he will be mi sed, make no mistake. Look to Nazem Kadri to take on a bigger role in the top-six with Matthews out. And, oh yeah, keep in mind that Toronto does have some guy named Tavares on the squad this year to help shoulder pardon the pun the burden while the kid is mi sing from the lineup.
