Jerry Jones has been quite chatty during the Cowboys’ offseason. And every time that he speaks, he seems to say something about Mike McCarthy that raises eyebrows.McCarthy is preparing for his third season coaching the Cowboys, but there were some rumblings that the team could Jeff Criswell Jersey move on from him after a disappointing playoff exit. Dallas ultimately kept him, but at times during the offseason, it seems like Jerry Jones has undermined him.Take, for example, Jones’ praise of Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn. By saying that Quinn could be taking a Sean Payton or Jason Garrett-type path to another head coaching job. And if the Cowboys’ coaching job ever opened up, Quinn would be a candidate.”He’s certainly qualified. If I didn’t have a coach, I would have been interviewing him for coach.”As if that wasn’t bad enough, Jones followed that up with this comment about McCarthy.”Mike knows that someday somebody other than him will be coach of the Cowboys,” Jones said.That’s quite a ringing endorsement.MORE: So, what is McCarthy to make of all this? Hey, definitely, the narratives are unusual. But at the end of the day, I think youve got to trust the relationships, the communication and the connection you have in our leadership group. I think were doing everything we po sibly can to build a championship team here.”That includes keeping Quinn, another person with whom McCarthy has a good relationship. As McCarthy explained, he is happy to keep Quinn around even despite the buzz that Quinn has gotten on the coaching market.”Obviously, when he took the interview and this narrative broke out, in a reflection of the relationship that Dan and I do have, he just said ‘Hey, man. Im not comfortable with this narrative.
