Bills 3 Bold Predictions Rookies Set for

enter the 2022-23 season with And with that, could come similarly lofty predictions about the potential performance of individual players and the team as a whole. revealed three bold predictions for the Bills Tuesday and seems to have some supreme confidence in as and could be set for major roles.Prediction 1:James Cook becomes lead running backCook was the team's second-round pick for a reason. He enters a Buffalo running back room that has talent, but an uncertain future makeup as well.Buffalo's leading-rusher NFL Tennessee Titans Jersey last season, Devin Singletary, is set to be an unrestricted free agent next offseason. The team could look to deal him in a mid-season trade in order to get some value in return before he potentially walks in 2023. This scenario could play out even quicker if Cooks shows he can replicate the versatile production that resulted in his 11 total touchdowns last season with the championship-winning Georgia Bulldogs.PFF's analysis:Cook was drafted to add something different to the Buffalo offense his after-the-catch ability has been a hot topic among Bills bra s but I believe he can be a better all-around threat than that. Cook reminds me a lot of his older brother, Dalvin, in style, but works with a slightly worse tool set. If James ends up being 80% of the player Dalvin is, with arguably better receiving skills, he will be the best back on Buffalos roster and earn himself a bigger workload than the team initially forecasted. Cook averaged 3.8 yards per carry after contact this past season for Georgia, and over a third of his carries resulted in a first down.Prediction 2:Josh Allen's lowest-graded OLThis bold prediction will likely cause some nerves for Bills fans, but there's reason to optimistic about the protection of quarterback Josh Allen based on last season.Scroll to ContinueAllen, one of the premier dual-threat quarterbacks in NFL history, is outside the pocket more than most guys at his position. But he was sacked only 26 times last season, just the 15th-most among quarterbacks. But the Briley Moore Jersey Buffalo offensive line is also already experiencing some uncertainty. The unusual absence of left tackle Dion Dawkins raises questions while the integration of new guys like Roger Saffold, who is getting off to a delayed start in training camp on the non-football injury list following a car accident, makes thing difficult as well.PFF's analysis:Buffalo has employed an admirable strategy in offensive line construction, continuing to attack it with volume without ever overcommitting too many high-value resources. Its allowed the unit to achieve a perfect creep back toward average vision that the PFF NFL Podcast would be proud of. The problem with that is there is a range of outcomes for a group of average linemen that takes the entire group well below average, and the Bills flirted with that at times last year. Buffalo has the Jordan Roos Jersey best roster in the NFL, but theres definitely a chance this line starts to become an i sue and undermine the rest of the offense.Prediction 3:Kaiir Elam will have 5-plus interceptionsElam was the team's first-round pick for a reason. He's set to play a major role next season, a role that could gain more importance with the uncertain Week 1 return of star cornerback Tre'Davious White and the recent training camp injuries of Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer.Elam, who the Bills traded up two spot to select, did show the team his ultra ambition, as he wanted a playbook waiting for him once he got on the plane. But five-or-more interceptions in his rookie season would be quite an overachievement, as he had just five total picks in three seasons at Florida. His chances of reaching this number would increase once the Buffalo secondary gets back to full health, as opposing quarterbacks would be more likely to throw in the rookie's direction.PFF's analysis:TreDavious White isnt just one of the better cornerbacks in the NFL, he also takes on one of the toughest roles within a defense in terms of alignment and how he is deployed. He doesnt nece sarily play man coverage every snap, but he will align to the more difficult side of an offense and allow the No. 2 cornerback to benefit from that. Levi Wallace took advantage to carve himself out a starting role and career as an undrafted free agent, but it could allow a talented Chance Campbell Jersey rookie like Kaiir Elam to use his ball skills to create some turnovers with the targets he will see in 2022. Elam allowed just a 57.5 pa ser rating into his coverage for his entire college career.

NFL Combine Day 1 Winners and Observatio

Receivers won the day on the first day of on-field workouts, and the old saying is that speed kills, and apparently, it was a ma sacre in Indianapolis on Thursday. Nine receivers logged official 40-yard dash times under 4.4 seconds. For all of the players who decided not to participate in the drills, these numbers made it increasingly difficult to look impre sive as they cherry-picked which things they would or would not do. When you prepare for the combine, and you know this is the marquee event of the proceedings, you have to show up and show out. These receivers showed out so much that it made excellent times look pedestrian. Here is a list of guys who went sub 4.4:Tyquan Thornton, Baylor: 4.28Velus Jones, Tenne see: 4.31Calvin Austin III, Memphis 4.32Alec Pierce, Cincinnati: 4.33Danny Gray, SMU: 4.33Bo Melton, Rutgers: 4.34 Christian Watson, North Dakota State: 4.36Garrett Wilson, Ohio State 4.38Chris Olave, Ohio State Rocky Bleier Jersey 4.39Most of these players flashed elite-level speed on film, but it is fair to say that nobody believed they would all go sub 4.4 seconds. A few prospects that we told Giants fans performed decently but still left questions. 4.44 40-yard dash would have looked good in any other year, but it is still one that will help his stock. His vertical jump was 34.5 inches, and his broad jump was 9.8. While he looked physically stronger, he did not do the bench pre s, so we are left to a sume that he Mitchell Trubisky Jersey is still working on that part of his game. Tre Turner ran a 4.51 forty and did not produce any eye-popping performances in the other drills or on-field workouts. He didn't hurt his status, but he also did not improve it. and Tre McBride only participated in the vertical jump and 20-yard shuttle, so their day was inconclusive. Ultimately they allowed other tight ends to close on them. Here are a few more winners from Day 1 of the combine workouts.Scroll to ContinueHow "tall" is a 4.32 forty? How "big" is a 39-inch vertical (third-best among receivers) and 11-foot 3-inch broad jump (second-best in the group)? Hong "long" is a 4.07 short shuttle (best in the group)? While so many focused on Austins size (58 and 170 pounds), Austin focused on setting the drills on fire. He did just that and warrants evaluators going to take another look at him and how that level of athleticism could be used in their offense. There were no size i sues with Christian Watson, and nobody will argue how impactful he was for the Bison. The question is, how athletic is he?The answer is extremely. Yes, Watson was one of the nine sub-4.4 receivers, but he also exploded in the vertical jump (38.5 inches) and a group best in the broad jump (11 feet 4 inches). His stock continues to rise after a really good Senior Bowl and great on-field performance. Theres also no doubt that Cooper Kupps effectivene s in the NFL with the Rams will give Watson an even further boost on draft day. He has moved into the conversation with the other top receivers in this draft cla John Leglue Jersey s.While some of the other highly touted names at the position sat out the forty-yard dash, Okonkwo went out and laid down a 4.52 forty-yard dash time which was the best amongst all tight ends and faster than many receivers. His 35.5-inch vertical was the second-highest in the group. He looked smooth going through the gauntlet and comfortable catching the football. He will have evaluators talking if he could be an option if they decide to go another way with an early day two draft pick. He has put himself into the conversation with the top guys. With all due respect to Desmond Ridder performing better than many Pat Freiermuth Jersey receivers in the combine testing, Willis showed off superior arm talent. Was he perfect? No.Was he impre sive? Absolutely. The ball left his hand effortle sly. The arch on his deep ball was beautiful, and the ball reached the hands of receivers on short routes as quick as a handoff. When you combine this with his impre sive practices at the senior bowl and the film from the last two seasons, there's no doubt he is QB1.Now the questions begin as to where he will land. Many decision-makers are falling in love with his ability as a pa ser, which is great because that means his ability as a runner is not affecting evaluators' judgment but is instead seen as an extra a set.Join the Giants Country Community

Five Bears Who Stepped Up at the Start

It's only been four unpadded practices and the pads come on this week but the Sunday break for the Bears offered a time to take account of the first segment of training camp.Five players in particular stood up to be counted in those initial practices.None of them are linemen, offensive or otherewise. It's all but impo sible to judge linemen based on fake contact. The upcoming segment of practices will tell more on this after pads are used and one-on-one pa s blocking occurs. What's most encouraging for Bears GM Ryan Poles is three of the players who made the first strong impre sions were 2022 draft picks who he brought here.1. WR Darnell MooneySmooth, polished and ready to prove he should retain the status of the team's No. 1 receiver, Mooney really has his sights set on something bigger as he daily impre ses with route running and expanded catch repertoire. He seems better able to elevate for catches this year."I'm not thinking of any stats, any personal stats, any individual," Mooney said. "I want to win. Biggest thing, Mackensie Alexander Jersey I want to win. Winning will take care of everything regardle s of whatPro Bowl, all those individual accoladeseverything will help out itself when we're winning."Make no mistake, Mooney has goals but not numbers. His main one is lofty."I still want to be great," Mooney said. "Still want to be the best player, best receiver in the league. And I'll get that."2. WR Velus Jones Jr.He Alexander Mattison Jersey has beaten rookie Kyler Jones in particular. Three times he has made it past Jones for catches but Gordon's play has been so exemplary that it's like the proverbial flea on the elephant. Jones' speed has been apparent and when the pads come on his power should, as well. There hasn't been a great presence in the intermediate routes for him but on deep routes his 4.31-second speed is quite apparent been apparent. The surprise has been his ability to fake on those deep routes like a veteran.3. DB Kyler GordonBeaten by Jones, sure, but he's always on the ball during red zone full squad or seven-on-seven work and if he's beaten in those it's a difficult contested catch. Gordon made a heads-up pick of Justin Fields on a delected pa s off Mooney's hands in one red zone scrimmage. It was the type of heads-up zone play a safety or nickel defender would normally make, so it's not surprising they are giving him a look both on the outside and inside.Scroll to Continue"I don't know the reason," Gordon said. "They just told me, 'learn the nickel. You're gonna go there.' I'm like, 'Yep. I'm ready.'"And I just had a smile and I was just excited."4. S Jaquan BriskerThe interception of Fields he made in Friday's practice probably was the defensive play of camp. It was the kind of heady interception a veteran produces. He almost seemed to bait Fields into the throw over the middle to Cole Kmet before moving stepping in front of the starting tight end to pull down the ball and take off upfield."I enjoy playing next to him," Gordon said of the Penn State safety. "I know he Danielle Hunter Jersey 's a big, physical dude, and we talk about being physical all the time. "I mean you definitely see him out there swinging his hands and always punching at the ball. Long-arm dudes and getting physical, I like that. It's just nice to know Ryan Connelly Jersey someone is playing with the same physicality that I like to play with. His energy will bounce off of me and make me raise my energy. So I enjoy playing with him a lot."5. QB Justin FieldsImproved footwork, accuracy on medium and shorter pa ses and a better idea when receivers are actually open have all been apparent. The interception he threw to Brisker was the one blip on the radar. He also seems to have a better feel for when to throw it out where no one can reach it except his target near the goal line and at the end zone corners. "Forget all the athletic part," offensive coordinator Luke Getsy said. "That guy, with the way he attacks every single day and his approach and lead by example and you know, doesn't ask anybody to do anything he doesnt expect of himself. That guy, he's a natural-born leader-type of guy. So we're lucky to have a guy like that leading this thing."
